About Y-40:

Holding the Guinness book of world record's record for deepest thermal pool, the Y-40 is 42.15 meters (138.29 feet!) deep and full of temperature controlled thermal spa water at a constant 89-93 degrees Fahrenheit. The pool boasts artificial caves and small overhead spaces to explore. The basic overhead spaces and larger caves will be explored in the Open water class. The pool is home to many free divers and scuba divers alike, and is often used for artistic photoshoots, fashion week ads, and light shows. It is a truly unique experience. Learn to dive with PADI: Professional Association of Diving Instructors learn in a controlled and comfortable environment.

About the Class:

PADI® Open Water Diver is the first scuba certification level. A highly-trained PADI Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment. By the end of the course, you'll have the skills and knowledge to dive at home or abroad and be an ambassador for the underwater world.

PADI eLearning makes it easy to fit scuba lessons into a busy schedule. Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology whenever, wherever it's convenient for you. It's your course on your time. Study offline, or online using a computer or mobile device. Connect with your instructor whenever you have a question. eLearning time commitment: 5-10 hours. It is self-study, so you control the time it takes for you to comfortably go through the material. Most people pace themselves and complete their knowledge development over a few weeks but it can be completed in a matter of days

In this course you will:

  • Learn all about scuba equipment, familiarize yourself with scuba terminology, and watch videos of diving skills
  • Practice basic diving skills such as clearing water from your mask, ascending and descending. Your instructor will demonstrate and review the skills with you until you’re comfortable performing them on your own.
  • Dive 7 dives at the Y-40

After this course AND FINAL OCEAN DIVES you will be allowed to:

  • Dive to a depth of 18 meters
  • Scuba dive with a partner (without supervision)
  • Rent or purchase scuba diving gear
  • Book excursions with dive boats and resorts
  • Get air fills at local dive shops
  • Call yourself a certified diver!

Please Note:

You will be expected to self-transport to, and dive on June 17-18 in the ocean. This is typically held in Rovinj, Croatia. This is non optional and these dives are the final dives and are considered open water (Outside of a pool in an uncontrolled space). After these dives you will be granted you certification. Certifications never expire and PADI is the most internationally recognized Scuba certification.
