Perugia is the capital city of the Umbria region. It is known for many things, one of which is its defensive walls around the historic center. It is also home to the medieval Piori Palace that contains and exhibits regional art from the 13th century onward. Of the various things you can see and do here, the Fontana Maggiore is the foremost. This marble fountain is known for its carvings of biblical scenes as well as zodiac signs.
